Call for Papers NOW OPEN: International Scientific Conference

Center for Monitoring and Research is organizing international scientific conference “Impact of Personal Vote on Internal Party Democracy”. The conference will be held on 1st /2nd of July 2016, at the University Donja Gorica, in Podgorica, Montenegro.

The conference aims to present the main findings and products of the project, including national and comparative analysis of internal party democracy developments in the region of Western Balkans, as well as empirical data collected through region-wide conducted surveys on this matter. In addition to that, the purpose of the conference is to examine other aspects of political parties’ democratization, with regard to current electoral systems and models for electoral reform.

The Programme Committee (PC) is now accepting papers for the upcoming conference. We welcome both theoretical and empirical research articles, single case studies, as well as comparative perspectives for the two sessions of the conference: 1) Making Electoral System more Personalized - Models for the Western Balkans and (2) Internal Party Democracy in New Democracies. Authors are encouraged to submit proposals for the above sessions, or to propose a closed panel within these sessions. Note that a closed-panel proposal should include a Chair and abstracts of at least two discussants.

Proposals should include the following:

  • Title of paper:
  • Author's name(s) and affiliation(s):
  • Abstract (200-300 words):
  • Keywords (3-5):

Accepted proposals need to be completed as full papers prior to the conference. Papers should typically be between 6000 and 8000 words and follow the Instructions for Authors. Accepted papers can be considered for publication in the peer-reviewed Comparative Balkan Politics journal.

The event forms part of an international project “Balkan Electoral Comparative Study: Impact of Personal Vote on Internal Party Democracy”, implemented within the Regional Research Promotion Programme in the Western Balkans (RRPP), funded by Swiss Agency for Democracy and Cooperation SDC conducted by the University of Fribourg. This project is being implemented in Western Balkans countries, in co-operation with Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade, Kosovar Think Tank KIPRED, and group of experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
